Big City Living (Midpoint Mingle)

The town of Midpoint: called thus because it is at the exact center of the game arena, a busy little Western town full of strange people, many of whom don’t look remotely human, because this is where all the players gather and live. Midpoint Saloon: called thus because it is the only bar in Midpoint. It’s also the biggest building in town, four stories high, dotted with windows, painted a jaunty yellow and decorated with red and green flowers in all the window boxes.

This is where your veteran teammate points you. Or just stomps off to and hopes you follow.

Downstairs is a bar and tavern, Old West style, right down to the upright piano in one corner and a raucous crowd of locals - largely locals, but with a healthy smattering of unusual or downright alien faces that clearly indicate the presence of other Players - eating, drinking, gambling, and getting into trouble. There’s a broad, bearded man behind the bar, waving cheerfully at you as you enter.

The rest of the night and the next day is yours to do with what you see fit. Explore the town, take a long nap in your new room, try to get to know people... everyone is here for the next twenty-four hours before travel to the mission site, so it’s a good chance to scope out the competition, at the very least.

Yoda is very glad of his pony. His legs are very short and the town was laid out by people much taller than him. So he rides from place to place. And tries to convince the pony not to eat his hat. Apparently mindtricks aren't super useful on stubborn ponies though...

II- Saloon

Naturally, he eventually makes his way to the major gathering point. Gambling and trouble aren't really his interest. But he's a living being, he needs to eat and drink (though not necessarily the usual fare here...). Being from a galaxy far, far away he doesn't really know what to expect from an Old West saloon.

"A recommendation have you?"

Generally more concerned with animals than 'intelligent' beings, Jiro approaches Yoda and his pony with the sole intention of talking to the latter. Why is he eating the hat? Didn't Yoda feed him?

That's exactly what he asks the pony; but not in words. In horse noises, because that's how his powers work.

Yoda raises a wispy white eyebrow at that. "Know something I do not, you must."

The pony, for its part, is eating out of boredom rather than any sort of neglect. The hat is just so interesting.

Satisfied the pony is being taken care, he finally acknowledges Yoda.

"Just wanted to know why he was eating the hat."

"Oh. Sorry." Snapping out of his pondering, Day looks down (and down and down, Cyros below, he does not like being the tall one again in the group) to address whoever spoke to him. "I... I don't need to eat or drink so I never checked the menu. Sorry, mister...?"

He(?) sounded like a mister.

"Yoda." It's interesting that the saloon seems to allow droids so casually. This is truly a different place. "Come here for other reasons do you?"

"Here for socialisation, Mr. Yoda," he replies back with a grin. "Thought this would be a good place to meet new places and it doesn't look like I'm wrong so far."

A pause, as if trying to remember something and- "Oh! Day. I'm Daylight but I prefer it if you'll call me Day."

Sam still wasn't entirely sure about this town -- mixing people who were sometimes on the same team and sometimes not just seemed like a lot of trouble -- but given that someone like North was running the place did put him more at ease at the saloon than anywhere else. He'd learned quickly that this was pretty neutral territory.

He wasn't exactly as standoffish as some of his friends, so Sam isn't too surprised when he is approached -- though the small stature and green skin take him a second. Granted, he's been here for a bit, so strange appearances are getting a little easier to deal with.

"Depends. Are you asking for a recommendation on food, drink or both?"

"Food, for the moment." He hasn't had alcohol in a while. It's not worth the effort to make it for himself. This doesn't seem the moment to try it for the first time in years.

Sam nods.

"Well, North," he gestures to the bearded and tattooed guy behind the bar, "is the one to speak to. He takes requests if you have something in mind you like from home -- has a knack for being able to make even more obscure dishes." It would be interesting to see if that included whatever strange dishes a small, green man could come up with. "But he usually has a special or two going. I spoke with him earlier. Today it's chili with cheese or pelmeni."
